It's good that our data can only be stored for 50 or so years. It means that we'll be forced to save the good stuff, and let the rest rot. The rest is garbage anyway.

The problem is that modern data storage media only last about 50 years. Sure we could keep transfering it over to new hard disk every 50 years, but that assumes we survive that long.

Its no Time Cops, but still interesting. The fear is somewhat unfounded, though. If the data is still readable in 20000 years, google will work as well then as it does now.
